One of the best cuisines I had truly enjoyed in Korea would be the Korean Barbecues. It includes having deliciously marinated meats or non marinated meats such as pork belly placed on the gas grill, coupled with charcoal to complete the cooking experience. I tried a couple of Korean BBQ in Melbourne but nothing impresses me as much as Mrs Kim’s Grill. The meats are flavoursome and you can get the nice cuts such as the Wagyu, especially if you are seated earlier. It can get snapped out pretty fast.
Located in Carnegie, this two level restaurant stocks up on good quality cuts such as wagyu and rib eye fillet and many other tasty cuts. Three of us were feeling hungry and we opted for the Moo Set ($39), which included a mix of their famous marinated Galbi Ribs and Skirt Steak. We added a la carte items such as the Wagyu steak ($28)
And the mushrooms with butter. Sweet tasting, with generous dollops of butter spread all over it.
The great thing about Mrs Kim is that they finally added more banchan (side dishes) to the meals. The last visit I only had some kimchi and marinated onions. Now, they got so much more to offer with the sets. We opted for the Smoked Salmon and Onion Salad, and we got the complimentary kimchi. And the set also came with rice, butter veggies and soup of the day.
The meats were so well marinated and I must admit that they are one of the best I tasted in Australia. I heard from the grapevine that Mrs Kim used to be in the meat butchering business before exploring to run her own restaurant, serving excellent cuts of meats.
The overall experience at Mrs Kim’s Grill was awesome. Great meats, great side dishes and service with a smile. My visitor from overseas enjoyed the food and the ambience. Do remember to make prior reservations as the place usually get packed and it would be difficult to get a table. Thanks Mrs Kim and we will be back soon. Love the quality of the meats.
